Dresses to try and avoid attention: oversized, shapeless shirts and dresses; big hats and sunglasses; slouching to try and make herself seem smaller. Her wings are large and look like a raven's when let out. They can also be "pulled in", disappearing into her as a way of hiding them; when that happens, they take the form of a tattoo across her shoulder blades of one spread wing.
HOME WORLD BASICS
Lucy was created for the now-ended RP game Beyond the Rift. In her original home universe, there are angels, demons, and a whole variety of supernatural creatures, all of whom do their best to keep up the masquerade so that normal humans don't know they're there. Angels and demons don't usually get along, and tend to keep to the respective areas where their kind is more prominent unless they're making trouble. While angels are not necessarily always good and demons are not necessarily always evil, many angels do not believe that.

Angels and demons are essentially human til age 16, then grow their wings and develop their calling. All angels and demons have a calling, which fall into certain broad categories. The two most important to Lucy's story are Angels of Knowledge, who have one area they are compelled to collect knowledge about -- Lucy's is demons -- and Archangels, who hunt demons.

Generally the setting is a bit of a kitchen sink, so it's easy to smush in other things. In addition, there are holes into Lucy's universe people regularly fall through, showing up unexpectedly as "Wanderers". The game she originated in also ended with Lucy's home universe basically falling apart and everyone falling out of it, so her turning up in another world is also an option, and particularly helpful for her turning up in other times/places.

For ease of verse-smashing, the most important things about Lucy's homeworld are the existence of angels, with some kind of inner urge driving them towards various things; the existence of demons who are at least potentially sympathetic; and the fact that the two are at odds and often dangerous to each other.
PERSONALITY
  ✚ determined, intelligent, curious, empathetic
   anxious, insecure, morally flexible, distrusting

Lucy is timid, more now than she was growing up, and she has a lot of trust issues. Her family using her as a weapon and trying to keep herself safe for years have left her with a lot of scars, and after her family's attempt to weaponize her calling, trusting anyone has been hard. In addition, her ability to trust is locked up in a weird paradox from what her calling is. She wants to trust demons more than she does angels -- because her calling pulls her towards them, because she's curious about them, and because the angels she's known haven't really been winners so far. But, both still having her family's beliefs drilled into her head -- and knowing that, however pulled to them she feels, dangerous ones do exist and some of them do want to kill people or, specifically, angels -- means that she isn't entirely safe with demons either. And there's a part of her that can't entirely shake her family's beliefs, and still wonders if, by running away to keep from killing demons, she's helping the bad guys after all.

She's not a fighter, but she can take care of herself and hold her own, and she was well-trained by her parents. She can fire a gun, she can use her strengths and dexterity as an angel to her advantage, and she has killed before. Mostly it's been monsters, but also a couple of demons that got dangerous after they realized she was an angel who no one would realize was missing -- an event that screwed with her head even more about who she could trust.

Even beyond anyone else, though, Lucy doesn't trust herself or her own instincts. She doesn't believe her own judgement calls and she doubts herself constantly, for better or for worse -- it's saved her life in situations like the one mentioned above, but it means she doesn't trust herself even when she should, and often she doesn't know where to turn in lieu of trusting her own instincts. She's always pushing to learn more, find out more, not only because of her calling, but because she knows she can trust facts. Anything she can learn and know with absolute certainty is a relief, because so much of life after leaving her family has been up in the air.

However, when she can get past the problems with her trust issues and her trying desperately to get on her own two feet, there are flashes of the interrupted teenage years that come to light now and again. She's a giant geek; she loves science fiction, classic literature, going to movies and theater, comic books and cartoons, and playing on playgrounds. She gets giggly over crushes, she still dreams of being an actress even though it wouldn't be a safe idea to pursue anyway, and while she knows how to take care of herself, there's a lot of typical adult life that she's completely inexperienced with. But she's more resilient and stronger than she thinks, and there's a chance for a woman less terrified and paralyzed to begin to come to light if she can just find somewhere safe to rest for long enough.
BACKGROUND
Both her mother and father's families are all-angel for the last couple of generations. Her father's side, the Andersons, are mostly Archangels (demon hunters by nature); while her mother's family are pretty evenly split between Angels of Knowledge and Archangels, with few exceptions. The whole family is a bit of a melting pot, but they've both been in America for more than a century, and they've mostly abandoned it in face of one main descriptor for the whole family: Angels. Specifically, wholeheartedly embracing the impulses that comes with the Archangel calling.

Louise was born the third of four kids in her family, her father an Archangel and her mother an Angel of Knowledge. Her siblings grew up knowing exactly what their family expected them to turn into, but Louise was the family question; probably not an Archangel, but everything else was in the air. Instead of the upbringing specified to her most likely calling like her siblings got -- the weapon training and wrestling, or the frequent library visits and constant knowledge testing -- she got a little of everything. The fighting; the books; the early introduction and explanation of mortality so that she could prepare herself if her calling was one that dealt closely with death.

At sixteen, she got her wings and her calling as an Angel of Knowledge. It didn't take long for questions about the direction of her calling to spring up, as she continued to be fascinated about the training her siblings got about ways to recognize demons and the different kinds that existed. After that summer, her family started encouraging her to get closer to a couple of friends from her school, a brother and sister a little younger than her. Louise didn't know at the time that it was because their parents were demons, and only figured her parents wanted her to have more friends, since she'd never been as social as her siblings.

It took less than eight months for her to get close enough to the pair that her excited rambles contained all the information that her father needed. They attacked; both the children died along with the parents. Her family considered it an accident but not a tragedy, maybe even a good thing, since they were undoubtedly both going to be demons as well. They considering it to mean that Louise's training was a success. If her calling was going to pull her towards demons, she would be the perfect new weapon to add to their arsenal. At first Louise tried, going where her parents pointed her, working herself in with the newly-turned demons they told her to talk to, learning more and more about demons as she did so. The more she learned, the more fascinated she was, cementing her own certainty that this was her purpose even as she tried to reject it -- because the more she learned, the harder it became to stick to her family's teachings and keep being their spy-of-sorts to help them kill demons faster and easier.

She didn't make it to eighteen; she barely made it to her seventeenth birthday before she ran away. It took her half a year and a handful of close calls to get far away enough to feel safe, and even then she wasn't comfortable using her real name, in case her family somehow heard. She's spent the time since slowly putting as much distance as she can between her and her family, largely living on streets and in shelters, whenever possible begging work or help out of establishments set up for the people who fall into her universe, as they're prepared for people with strange situations. For all anyone she's met knows, Lucy March is her real name and she's simply decided to leave home at 18.
